SOME OF MY FAVORITE GREEK YOGURT RECIPES

You can easily buy this plain Greek yogurt at Costco, Trader Joes, or any other grocery store. My husband and I buy two tubs at Costco and we get through it pretty quickly. I think we finish one each in less than a week or so.

Here are some of its nutritional benefits I found on the Fage website:

FAGE Total Strained Greek Yogurt is an extraordinary source of nutrition. Made from an authentic recipe that dates back to 1926 and using 100% natural ingredients, it contains no added sweeteners, thickeners or preservatives and no powdered milk, powdered cream or powdered protein.

Just whole milk, cream and cultures go through our unique straining process to create this blissful, low-calorie taste experience. In fact, approximately 4 pounds of raw milk are needed to make just one pound of FAGE Total Greek Yogurt. It’s part of what makes each thick, creamy bite full of inherent nutritional benefits

FAGE Total’s unique straining process yields luxuriously thick yogurt, but also something else extraordinary: a high concentration of all-natural protein. Protein is a powerful, muscle-building nutrient that helps deliver steady and sustained energy throughout your day. So with up to 23g of protein in each individual serving, FAGE Total Greek Yogurt can help you through your day.
It’s all natural.

Healthy food starts by being all natural. FAGE Total Greek Yogurt uses only raw, 100% natural whole milk and cream supplied from rBGH-free* cows. This means you get all the calcium-rich benefits of real dairy ingredients, with nothing artificial.
It’s low-calorie — but filling.

FAGE Total Greek Yogurt is inherently low-calorie. Because we don’t use any artificial sweeteners, there are no extra “sugary” calories to keep track of. And in several cases, FAGE Total Greek Yogurt has fewer calories than other common dietary snacks and proves more filling.

TANGY FROZEN GREEK YOGURT
Active time:10 min
Start to finish:4 hr

(I found this recipe on Gourmet Magazine)

Americans have learned to appreciate plain whole-milk “Greek-style” yogurt in all its thick, rich, creamy glory, and those attributes are played up here. Buttermilk and lemon juice bolster its pleasing tartness, and light corn syrup adds body.

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups plain whole-milk Greek-style yogurt
1 cup well-shaken buttermilk
5 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

Equipment:
an ice cream maker

Warm sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Transfer to a large bowl and cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.
Whisk in yogurt, buttermilk, and lemon juice and chill until very cold, 3 to 6 hours.
Freeze yogurt in ice cream maker. Transfer to an airtight container and put in freezer to firm up.

Cooks’ note: Frozen yogurt keeps 1 week.
