KIWIS/BLACKBERRIES/STRAWBERRIES

A colorful fruit salad packed with antioxidants and Vitamin C for healthy, younger looking skin. Don't you love how the core of the kiwis made a natural heart shape? I love using bright contrasting colors in my fruit salads. It almost makes me feel like I'm tasting the rainbow! The mix of sweet blackberries and strawberries with a tinge of tangy sourness from the kiwi makes this trio a light and delicious meal!

Health Benefits of Kiwi:
  • Kiwi fruit provides an excellent source of vitamin C (more than oranges) and is especially important in respiratory-related health problems including wheezing, shortness of breath, asthma and coughing.
  • Kiwi fruits contain about as much potassium as bananas.
  • Kiwi offers a very good source of fiber which is why it is useful in decreasing the probability of colon cancer. Fiber has also been proven to reduce cholesterol levels, improving the conditions of patients with cardiovascular diseases and lowering the probability of heart attacks.
  • Kiwi's black seeds can be crushed to produce kiwi fruit oil, which is very rich in Alfa-Linoleic Acid (an important Omega-3 essential fatty acid).
  • Kiwi is also rich in flavonoids that help protect our cells from oxidative damage, and are therefore considered very helpful in protecting our DNA from mutations and damage.
  • Kiwi can help protect us from age related muscular degeneration.
  • Kiwi is rich in phytonutrients which prevent blood clotting and control fatty acid levels in your blood.
  • When kiwi juice is mix with water and vodka it can be use as astringent to help tighten and tone the skin.

GET READY TO ZZZZUUUMBA!

Who knew working out can be so much fun?! This is only my third week of taking Zumba classes and I'm seriously loving it! It's basically taking a group of people (mostly women), turning up some loud booty shaking music, and having the time of your life while burning massive calories! Of course you can probably do the same thing at a nightclub but then you have the occasional drunk guys who are eager to push into your personal space. If you're into guys hitting on you, I guess you can get your dancing shoes on and head out to the real clubs, but on weeknights, I say you loosen up your body a bit by taking a Zumba class! Afterall, you sort of owe it to yourself after sitting at work all day right? The adrenaline will pump lots of positive endorphins into your brain and you will find yourself feeling naturally happier. If it's your first time, you will feel a little lost at times but the whole point of Zumba is just letting go of your self-image and having a blast. I'd much rather take this class and get a good laugh out of myself than run a few miles on a boring treadmill... Zumba combines a variety of dancing styles (hip hop, salsa, flamenco, belly dancing, etc). Make sure you find an upbeat instructor with good taste in music and dancing styles. The more you go the easier it gets. You will notice a lot of movement in the hips and booty. Not only will you end up with a nice core exercise, but you will gradually become a better dancer too!
